A New NALC Executive Board

With the new year comes a new executive board for the NALC in Washington. We have been blessed by having Frederick Rolando as our National President for the past 14 years. Fred has been a great leader for our organization, and we will miss him greatly. Fred had the knack of making all of those around him comfortable. He had a smooth and calming demeanor, but he was sharp as a tack. I have enjoyed every one of my experiences with him. Many times, when you reach the mountain top, you become more isolated and have a feeling of superiority. I never had that feeling when dealing with Fred. Easy speaker and a good listener. I would like to wish him a long and healthy retirement. He has earned it.

I would also like to congratulate our new National President, Brian Renfroe on his election to head the organization. Brian is an extremely knowledgeable union representative. He is well versed in the USPS system and how the electronic age impacts what we do. I hope he follows Fred’s lead and manages the organization with a calm and steeled determination. I believe he will, and we will continue our tradition of great leadership. We have many issues coming up over the next couple of years so a strong leader is a must. I think we will be OK.
