Recognition
Being a member of the National Association of Letter Carrier brings with it a certain sense of pride. Not only a feeling of pride in being a letter carrier, but pride in your union membership.
The National Association of Letter Carriers acknowledges your dedication to the union and what it stands for by issuing its “Length of Service Awards”. Article 2, Section 5 - a, b, c, of the National Constitution outlines the various awards presented for years of membership.
(a) “When receiving proper notification by the Branch Secretary that a member has completed twenty-five (25) years; or thirty (30) years; thirty-five (35) years; forty (40) years or forty-five (45) years of membership, the National Association of Letter Carriers shall provide a suitable lapel pin to such member”.
In addition, “Upon completion of fifty (50) years membership in this Association, and proper request having been directed by the Branch Secretary to the National Secretary-Treasurer, a member shall be given a Life Membership Card of gold which shall entitle him/her to all privileges of membership in the National Association of Letter Carriers without payment of dues, per capita tax, or special assessments from the date of issue of such life Membership Card. Life members shall also be issued a suitable lapel pin (and letter) through the office of the National President.
(b) ”When receiving proper notification by the Branch Secretary that a member has completed (60) years of membership, the National Association of Letter Carriers shall provide a suitable lapel button (pin and letter) to each member”.
(c) “When receiving proper notification by the Branch Secretary that a member has completed seventy (70) years of membership, the National Association of Letter Carriers shall provide a suitable plaque (and Letter) to each member. The same shall be done at the completion of seventy-five (75) years”.
