Scholarships

             After an unfortunate delay due to the current pandemic we were finally able to award our annual scholarships this year for member’s children attending college for the first time in the fall of 2020.

              Every year (for 45 years now) Branch 6000 has given away three scholarships to member’s children.  These scholarships have been named, in honor of, former Executive Vice President John Pedota.  Our Credit Union also gives away one scholarship each year in honor of William “Bill” Morris, one of the original founders of the Credit Union. 

               This year, each of the three Branch 6000 scholarships was increased (for one year only) thanks to the generous donation of Letter Carrier Robert Beason (who passed away this year).

                Many fine applicants put in for these awards this year, and the final decisions were made by Professor John Pry.  This year’s winners were:

1st Place- $2,000- Catherine Tai- daughter of Letter Carrier Dong Hai Tai out of the Hempstead PO. 

2nd Place -$1,000- Hannah Lilly- daughter of Letter Carrier Hyechong Lilly out of the New Hyde Park PO. 

3rd Place - $1,000-Colin Reiff- son of Letter Carrier William Reiff- Retired East Rockaway Post Office.  

And the Credit Union Scholarship -$750- went to Matteo Saputo son of Letter Carrier Salvatore Saputo out of the Port Jefferson Station Post Office.

               These individuals have shown the highest level of academic achievement.  We are extremely proud of all of them.   We wish them much success in all their endeavors.  Congratulations!!!
