Opinions
Well this is the last Limb Leader for the year. The next paper comes out at the end of January 2019.
This year has been a hot mess for the country. In my entire life I have never seen anything like what is going on. The anger, hatefulness, the verbal attacks on anyone with a different opinion is sickening. Both parties are to blame for the way this country is going. Unfortunately, to me, it all starts with the current President. While I agree with some of his actions and ideas, his methods and condescending tone towards anyone who dares to disagree with him undermines his successes. I find him to be an arrogant, narcissistic pathological liar. He tears people apart instead of putting them together. His tactic of making derogatory comments about anyone or anything is starting to wear on the nation. The country seems to be following his non-civil ways. It is hard to fathom the depth of anger in the country. The Democratic liberals have picked up the vial comments and threatening attitudes. There was a time when the Democratic Party was considered the party of the working middle class. I don’t see it anymore. They seem to be more worried about the rights of illegal immigrants and the plight of individual organizations than the working class here in America. The Democratic Party has lost its way. They jump on every bandwagon that comes by while leaving many of us on the side of the road. They are devoid of leadership. I look but can’t seem to find anyone who excites me the way the John Kennedy excited a nation back in 1960. The Congressman and Senators don’t work for you and I anymore. They work for special interests and their main objective is to get re-elected at all costs.
The Republican Party has shown it has no moral fiber. During the primaries many Republicans took Donald Trump to task for his immoral ways. They said “Never Trump” and constantly took him to task in the media. Now they pander to him like sick little puppies following their mothers around. I watched the other day when President Trump got up to speak on behalf of “Texas Ted” during a campaign in Texas to support the re-election of Senator Ted Cruz. Trump up on the podium slapping the back of Cruz and acting like his best friend. It was just a short time ago that Trump was calling Cruz lying Ted and/or Crying Ted. He mocked him and embarrassed him at every turn. Now Cruz panders to the President as if nothing happened. Again, there is no moral fiber or dignity. The Republican delegation panders to the President like he is a rock star or a dictator. Shame on them. There is no moral indignation from that side on the way the President acts and speaks. This only emboldens this President and fuels his desire to be a “King”. The acceptance of this President’s use of fear through lies and intimidation is scary to me.
I could go on for a while picking apart both parties but why bother?
The bottom line is that neither side seems to have our best interests at hand. They work for special interests and we are not that special interest. We have also held ourselves to a higher standard than most other countries. That no longer is true. We are running to the bottom with the way this country is doing business. We were never a perfect society but we were also better than most. I believe that we were always “Great”. We are the country that others always wanted to come to. We did not need a catching phrase to make it happen. We needed to tweak the laws and rules some but not obliterate our morality in the process.
We are coming into the holiday season and I pray that more intelligent and moral people come forward to lead us. As it stands now, the Right wants to take it away and the Left wants to give it away. Where does that leave the rest of us?
I know this article will offend some but that’s the way it is. I am entitled to my opinions and thoughts. You don’t have to agree with it but I hope you respect my right to individual thought
I would like to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving and a very Merry Christmas along with a Happy and Healthy New Year. May God watch over you and your families during these troubled times.
