The Beating of the Drums
As we come to close out another troubled and turbulent year the future looks just a little brighter. This past year has brought many families to the brink of exhaustion. The loss of close friends and loved ones due to Covid. The loss of work due to the slackening economy, again, from Covid. The constant pressure of the daily worries we have and the effects of that. The ongoing social issues that we are sorting through. The constant beat of the politicians, and former politicians, who seem to be hellbent on brining our democracy to its knees. These are daily issues that pound our heads, and it seems like we are on a merry go round with no end in sight.
I don’t know about you, but I am sick and tired of all the peripheral noise from all the news pundits and politicians. They all seem to revel in giving false information to the point of outright lies. It is draining my soul and I refuse to give in to it. How do we back away from this noise? Try turning off the news. Try ignoring the newspaper. Move on to other forms of entertainment, whether that be watching a movie or a show. Try walking and exercising to clear your head. Take a day trip. Play board games with your children. Enjoy your family by doing more things together. These past two years have stolen precious time away from our lives. I think the time has come to take your lives back. Ignore all that interference and white noise and start to move forward. We are all only granted a short time on this earth, so why waste it on others who are looking to steal it? Take this to the bank:
The politicians do not care about you and I. Most are selfish narcissistic people who pander and beg for your money only to stab you in the back when push comes to shove. I have always wondered how a person is elected to public office with a small bank account and in 6 years or so they are millionaires? How is that possible? Just a thought. The rich just getting richer, off our work and sweat. Then there is the news. A commodity that’s sole purpose is to sell papers or collect advertising revenue. The more they excite the public with misinformation, the more attention they get. The more attention they get, the more money they pull in. They pull in that money and pay many of the reporters 10’s of millions of dollars. For what? They lie and twist facts every day to fit their own perspectives and needs. These people are setting the narrative for our lives. They have no real talent yet make more money in a year than most of us do in a lifetime. Shame on us for listening. Shame on us for enabling this to go on.
The time has come to clear our collective heads. Get back to enjoying life and our families. Stop worrying about every nuance and issue. Half the crap you are listening to has absolutely no value. The only value is to them and their pocketbooks. The time is now upon us to take a step back and breath.
The holiday season is upon us. A season that is supposed to bring much joy and happiness into our lives. I look forward to spending time at Thanksgiving with my entire family. We are not going to talk politics because there is no right or wrong and it just perpetuates anger and hatred. The day after Thanksgiving I will be spending three days putting up all my outdoor Christmas decorations. This is something I do each year and love it. It brings a smile to my granddaughters face and cleanses my soul. Christmas is my favorite time of year, and this year I will be working even harder to enjoy it. Maybe you could all use a break from the garbage we deal with every day. I suggest you pick out a project that you are passionate about and jump into it. Whatever it is it must be better than the constant drum of the ignorant driving us crazy.
I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and healthy Holiday season. May God bless us all as we pray for a better 2022.
