By-Laws Changes
Branch By-Law amendments must be presented in writing at the regular local Branch membership meeting in April. These changes must be signed by fifty (50) members in good standing in order to be reviewed. The proposed amendments must be approved by two-thirds (2/3) vote of the members present and voting at the regular scheduled Branch general membership meeting in May. The May general membership meeting will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
The following By-Law changes were presented at the April 2023 Branch meeting in accordance with By Law requirements. They will be voted on at the May Membership Meeting.
Propose to amend Article 5, Section 2(l), which presently reads:
Article 5. Section 1, currently reads:
i. The Health Benefits Representative (HBP) (MBA) (NSBA Representative shall perform such duties as the Constitution and Laws of the NALC Health Benefit Plan and MBA / NSBA Plan require, and such other duties as shall be assigned by the President. The President as his / her discretion may assign the HBP/ MBA/NSBA Representative up to 24 hours a month. The rate of hourly pay shall be City Carrier Grade 2, Step O. The HBP/MBA/ NSBA shall also be reimbursed the costs of their Health Benefit premium in January of the following year.
K. The Editor of the Branch publication shall see that a publication is publication is published and mailed on time at least six (6) months per year. There shall be a total of 6 Edition(s) published each year. The Branch President shall have the option to published 2 additional monthly publications at their discretion. The Editor may be assisted by a staff, appointed by the President. The salary for the Editor shall be paid up to fifteen (15) hours monthly for work performed in the publication of the Branch newspaper. For this service, he/she shall be paid at the hourly rate of Grade 2, step “O” full – time letter carrier. (Amended, May 2022)
